British Kung Fu Association

The British Kung Fu Association (BKFA) was set up in 1973 and is headed by Grandmaster Jeremy Yau, who is the "keeper" of the Lau Gar Kuen style of Kung Fu.
The BKFA has established Lau Gar Kuen Kung Fu clubs throughout the UK and Ireland.

By joining the BKFA you promise to honour and uphold the style of 'Lau Gar' and not to bring the Style or Association into disrepute.You promise to be respectful and courteous to your Instructor and fellow members.You promise not to use your skill for any wrong doing.

Rules

All members are required to:

Show respect for their Instructors and fellow members.
Show loyalty to the Style.
Try their best to help fellow members.
Wear a clean recognised uniform and sash.
Have an up-to-date licence (this is for your own piece of mind in the event of an injury).
Attend classes with clean feet or suitable foot wear.
Ensure toe and fingernails are kept short (this is to prevent injury to your fellow members).
Jewellery, rings, watches etc. should not be worn in class (we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to any personal artefacts) also risk to of injury to fellow members.
No sparring is permissible without strict supervision and permission from the Instructor in charge.
No swearing or foul abusive language to be used.
Arrive at lessons on time (unless a valid excuse is presented).
During class time, mobile phones should be switched off or put on silent (however there are some exceptions, we understand that people may need to receive emergency calls or have baby sitters etc and for this we allow) however strictly No social calls.

All members are at no time to use their Martial Art skill for any wrongdoing.In addition to our standard rules that have existed for years we have now added a number of new rules some of which are both common sense and courteous.

Note: We reserve the right to exclude any student or Instructor from the BKFA should we consider them to have participated in any wrong doing or for any other reason deemed appropriate.
